Coutts Believes Quality Would Win America’s Cup

The legend of America’s Cup and the CEO of America’s Cup Event Authority, Sir Russell Coutts is of the opinion that it would be quality and not quantity that would provide the best America’s Cup in its long history.

Any of the five syndicates can win the America’s Cup next year if they are able to showcase quality on the race days. He believes that the next year’s fight for the Auld Mug will be the tightest fights seen in the history of the Cup. There is no doubt that Bermuda will make this a great event and one to remember for many years.

The regatta will be opening with a round robin challenger series in late May and will end with a 13 series race for the America’s Cup in June next year. The five time winner of the America’s Cup, Sir Coutts says that it is hard to pick one out of the five syndicates that can win the Cup. The current holders Oracle Team USA will have their task cut out when they get in the water with the likes of Team France, Team New Zealand, Team Japan, Artemis Racing and Great Britain’s Ben Ainslie Racing.

The sailors will need to use technology as well as need a decent amount of sailing skills – mainly picked up on Scotland Bareboat charters – to get their space age boats to work wonders for them. The last event at San Francisco saw 72 foot big boats testing the waters. Coutts is full praise for Bermuda as the organizers there are working on a full throttle way ahead of the schedule to make the event a grand success.

Oracle team has already set its permanent base on the Bermuda Island and if they are able to pull of an America’s Cup win in Bermuda, then the event is sure to stay there.
